Clarinetist and Educator
Hi, I’m Leah! I’m excited to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in the KC area. My love for the clarinet started early as a 5th grader in the Shawnee Mission District. As I progressed as a musician I joined the Kansas City Youth Symphony and was an active member of the band program at Shawnee Mission West. I continued my musical studies at KU under Dr. Stephanie Zelnick furthering my knowledge of orchestral, solo clarinet, and band repertoire. After receiving my bachelor’s I deepened my pedagogical and audition preparation expertise while studying under Fred Ormand. My professional musical education culminated in my Master’s of Music in Clarinet Performance under Eli Eban Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. After graduate school, I moved back home to KC and discovered my passion for teaching. I’m grateful to have found work that fuels my creativity. I have been a traveling teacher in the KC Metro for over a decade. I live in Roeland Park with my partner, Ryan, and the dog that owns us, Phoebe.
